Obituary for Jose Maria Pereira

Jose Maria Pereira, 89, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ. He was born in Veiros, Estarreja, Portugal and came to the United States in 1946 and resided in the Ironbound Section of Newark.

Jose worked for A. Gross & Co. of Newark for 46 years, retiring at the age of 66. He was the current oldest member of Sport Club Portuguese and a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church both of Newark.

Beloved husband of 61 years of Maria Laura Da Fonseca (nee Dias) Pereira; devoted and loving father of Carolina Heintz and her husband David, Jose D. Pereira and his wife Catharina; dear brother of Maria do Ceu Marques and the late Guilhermina Afonso and Manuel Valente Pereira; cherished grandfather of Christopher Heintz, Aidan and Marisa Pereira.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the Funeral on Wednesday, September 6th at 8:30 am at the Buyus Funeral Home, 426 Lafayette St., at Wilson Ave., Newark. Thence to Our Lady of Fatima Church, Newark, where at 9:30 am the Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, NJ. Visitation Tuesday, September 5th from 4 – 8 pm.
