Obituary for Harold R. Hornig

Harold (Harry) R. Hornig, 85, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, September 2, 2018, at his home in North Arlington, NJ with his loving family by his side. He was born in Newark and was a resident of the Ironbound Section before moving to North Arlington, 42 years ago.

Harry was a Hiring Agent at PNCT (Port Newark Container Terminal) in Newark for 50 years, retiring in 2005. Harry was a member of the Ironbound Executives of Newark. He was a member of the ILA Local #1235. He was Treasurer of the ILA Local #1235 Federal Credit Union. Harold served in the US Army from 1953- 1955 and was Honorably Discharged.

Beloved husband of 65 years of Margaret (Margie) (nee Smodis) Hornig; devoted and loving father of Lynn Rossini and her husband Oscar, and Lori Zarrello; dear grandfather of Lauren Queli and her fiancé Ryan McEnery, Larry Queli and his wife Nicole and Frank Zarrello; cherished great-grandfather of Larry Donato Queli and Lucia Queli.

Visitation for Harry will be held on Tuesday, September 4th from 4 -8 pm at the Shaw-Buyus Home for Services located at 138 Davis Avenue at Bergen Avenue, Kearny, NJ. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 5th at 10:30 am at the Funeral Home. Cremation Private.
